THE MOVIE
The Nanny Diaries
Directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini
Starring Scarlett Johansson and Laura Linney
In The Nanny Diaries, a young high school graduate, played by Scarlett
Johansson, decides to postpone rushing off to college and spend
a summer being a nanny in a rich upper-West Side home.
About the only pleasant things about the movie are the great shots
of New York City that serve as background for all the family drama.
Watching the film roll by made us hungry for great deli food and,
since a trip to the Big Apple was out of the question, we instead
journeyed to Inman Square, Cambridge, and the great
S&S Restaurant.
The S&S has been serving great traditional deli food since 1919,
and, some would argue, it’s better than deli you get in New
York City.
Breakfast is amazing at the S&S, from the cheese blintzes to
the French eggs. At lunch, you can get chicken that’s roasted,
skewered, stuffed or served parmigiana style. And at dinner, well,
just bring an appetite, especially if you like steak done to perfection.
